Expandable Graphite
Expandable graphite flake is a fire retardant additive for applications that require improved fire protection characteristics, including wood, foam, paint, plastics, and other construction and building materials. When exposed to heat, expandable graphite expands and generates voluminous insulating layers, improving flame-retardant properties of the polymeric matrix. This feature of expandable graphite makes it an excellent additive for use in intumescent fire retardant applications to suppress fire penetration and spread and smoke formation. Pantech’s expandable graphite is fine-tuned to achieve various particle size and onset temperature combinations. It has found a variety of applications such as a fire suppressant intumescent additive, a foundry additive, a raw material of making graphite gasket products.
